The Reverend Eric Doolittle serves to connect people with their faith life. While he comes from a multi-generation United Methodist family, he seeks joy and fullness of life for all people in their faith journey. Over his twenty years in ministry, he has helped people from Atheists to Zoroastrians as they explore the deeper implications of their faith on vocation, purpose, and meaning. Before joining North Central College, Chaplain Eric served at Georgetown University School of Law, Hiwassee College, and several United Methodist congregations in East Tennessee.

As the Chaplain of the College, "Rev." connects both the College and Naperville community to a wide variety of faith and justice advocacy resources. In addition to serving through the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church, he is a member of the Naperville Interfaith Leaders Association, One Naperville, Unity Partnership, Naperville Neighbors United, and the DuPage Higher Education Service Council.

Chaplain Doolittle works across campus to support spiritual wellness for our whole campus community. Current programs and resources include:

  • In person pastoral support and spiritual coaching
  • "Faith &...: Discussions on life, belief & everything" video and podcast series
  • Lux Veritas Speaker Series
  • Koten Chapel and the Multifaith Prayer Space
  • Opening Convocation and Baccalaureate services
HOUSE liaison for students facing homelessness
  • North Central College Interfaith Council
  • Festival of Light interfaith celebration
  • Spiritual ala Tea gathering

In his decade of work at NCC, Chaplain Eric helped start the Middle East and North Africa Studies Program, the 12:5 worship service, the Lux Veritas Speaker Series, the Muslim Students Association, the Multifaith Prayer Space, the Advent Devotional, and relaunched the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir. He serves on teams coordinating several events and ceremonies including Opening Convocation, the annual Seder dinner, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast, the Mindfulness Meditation Series, and Baccalaureate. He is also a member of the Veteran's Success Team.

In his spare time, Chaplain Eric is a blacksmith with RAWtools, an organization embodying God’s vision of turning swords to plowshares by decommissioning firearms and transforming them into garden tools. An avid hiker, he has completed 200 miles of the Appalachian Trail and visited 40 national parks. "Rev." is also a dedicated nerd – enjoying LEGO, sci-fi, and board games.
